We all have responsibilities. We can just run from our lives and reinvent ourselves. Too often we run from problems without realizing that we’re truly running from ourselves. Everyone has things we have to overcome. We have to overcome our problems in a way that’s comfortable. Figuring out yourself to know what you want to change is half the battle.

We Have To Be Open To Learning Who We Are

We often feel comfortable. But it’s not so much comfort with ourselves it’s comfort with an idea, comfort in definition. This can hold us back from changing. We can’t let this comfort make us feel like we’re at the end of our change. Change can be scary but that’s a part of it. We have to be ok not having a definitive answer to who are all the time.When we change that’s what we’re carving out. We’re carving out that definition. You can’t always tell what the sculpture depicts until it’s out of the sculptor’s mind and stands before you.

You Can’t Be Too Comfortable

We get addicted to who are. We keep reliving the past, going over our thoughts, and being stuck in the past. Everyone holds onto things from the past. Thinking about things we could’ve done better or done differently. We can’t make progress if we are thinking the same. You have to take the past, that part of you, and let it go.

Addicted To Who We Are

On a fundamental level it can be easy to forget yourself when changing. You can try to be another person, completely different from who you were in the past. Although it might feel easy and feel like you’re making progress, it’s not the way for you to become a better you. You have to stop being ashamed of being you and trying to change. Let yourself be you throughout change and learn to accept being you isn’t a static thing.

Don’t Forget Who You Are

You can be ashamed of your actions. You can think to yourself maybe I shouldn’t have done this, maybe I could’ve done that but it doesn’t represent you. Your betterment is something that you have to hold on to and appreciate regardless. You are not your past. Nothing is stopping you from waking up tomorrow and being a better you.

You Can’t Be Ashamed Of Loving Yourself

Sometimes, when we try to change, we can't. We feel stuck. If we let ourselves go, embrace our own change, only then can we truly make progress towards becoming who we want to be.

It's not about how you feel, it's about how you react to your feelings. It's about reacting to the parts of yourself that you don't love and trying to understand them. It's about being okay with accepting that they exist and are there, but not being too afraid to change them. Know what serves you and what doesn’t, but also know what has the potential to serve you. You have to be appreciative of life whether it’s happy or sad. Life is relative. The worst thing that happens to us is the worst thing that happens to us, no matter how small it might be.
