It’s clear that we move to a new country for benefits that we don’t have in our own, but when the focus is solely on those benefits, it feels like robbers in a bank. “We are here for a short while, if everyone is willing to cooperate, no one will be hurt.” But the truth is that everyone feels uncomfortable. Of course it would be nice to live in a place with good food and weather such as Italy, while having the salaries of Luxembourg, the landscapes of Norway and the medical system of Switzerland. But how can we feel we belong in a place without adapting to the rest of the country’s culture?
